Maqtada visits 25 places in 45 minutes

HYDERABAD: If there is any candidate who has changed his lifestyle for winning votes, it is MIM candidate for Karwan Assembly constituency Maqtada Khan alias Afsar Khan.
He does what an health expert would laud — he walks briskly for 45 minutes everyday to cover the entire constituency.
As poll dates near, Khan wins over his voters by visiting every household in the locality.He takes time to interact with all members of the household including children. He is usually asking them about their school.
“As my election policy goes, I have to cover the entire area of the Karwan assembly constituency and speak to each and every person,� Khan said.
“I have been given aplenty by the Almighty and it is time for me to him in return. So, I utilise this opportunity to serve his people,� Khan revealed.
The clean shaven leader prefers to be dressed in a ‘Safari suit’ unlike his co-campaigners from the party who all wear the traditional ‘Sherwani’. He greets the voters, shows great concern for them and promises development in their areas. The people in turn assure him of their votes for him.
On Wednesday, in some of the houses in the Bada Bazar, he stood outside the houses and spoke to the women of the area who are cooped inside their homes.
The meeting was successful though not face to face, literally.With Majlis Itehadul Muslimeen (MIM) flags flying high and music bands playing in the background Maqtada Khan visited 25 localities in 45 minutes in the two divisions of Golconda East and Golconda West of Kawan.
And he got a good response from the voters too. An old lady in Bada Bazar assured him her vote saying, “yeh bar hum aap ko hi vote dalange’, (this time, My vote is for you alone).
In spite of all these assurances, Khan has a tough battle ahead as his opposing candidate from the BJP, Baddam Bal Reddy has a good following in the constituency.
Santoshnagar colony, Aydhoya colony, Navodhaya colony and 50 surrounding bastis of the Karwan constituency are strong supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Where as, Golconda, Langer Houz, Salar Jung Colony, MD Lines, Bada Bazar, Chota Bazar and surrounding areas of Golconda are Majlis Itehadul Muslimeen strongholds.
